England

England

We LOVED the feeling as we stepped off the plane onto the runway in England–for the first time in almost 3 years, we were experiencing cold air!!!!  Malachi didn’t seem quite as excited about the cold and having to wear jackets, but he started to get used to it all.  England ended up transitioning us nicely from Uganda to the states.  We got to experience well-paved and well-marked roads (without having to get used to driving on the other side again!), dishwashers, drinking water from the tap again, and CARPET.  We think carpet almost revolutionized Malachi’s personality :)  Honestly, as soon as he experienced nice carpet, he seemed to become all the more playful, sociable, etc.

Our reason for stopping through England was to visit 2 families that Syd has been friends with from his former days in Uganda (they both lived/worked there at different times).  David and Sandra Kemp (David pictured below) live in a beautiful little house in the beautiful English countryside and we really enjoyed a time of rest with them.  It was great to hear stories from the beginning days of New Hope and learn from the wisdom that the Lord has given them throughout the years.  We ended our time by visiting the Casebow family.  They too are a fantastic family that we had lots of fun with as we caught up and shared stories.  We were so grateful to be a part of their family for a couple of days.  We definitely felt refreshed as we made our final leg of our journey back home.
