Saying Good-byes

For those of you who try to keep up with us via this website…we apologize!!! We have been absolutely silent for basically a year. Many of you we had the privilege of spending time with during that year — we were so grateful for all of those opportunities! Now we’ll try to post a few pictures and give a little update of our life in the last couple of months.

We left North Dakota in June and had to say good-bye to Syd’s family at that time–difficult, but at that point, it all seemed surreal that we would actually be heading back to Uganda in a couple of months. We had lots of great times with them throughout our months in Dickinson, and our kids had the chance to bond with their extended family — so good! We slowly made our way back to WI, visiting people and churches along the way. Then we made another big trip to Virginia and back in a very wide-circle-ish way. We were so blessed by all of the people that we got to visit with during those months.

By the time we settled back in WI, we had about 6 weeks left to squeeze in time with family and many friends in that area. It all seems like a whirlwind looking back! We really enjoyed being at our Calvary Community Church for their annual missions conference — it was SO encouraging to hear all that the Lord is doing in so many parts of the world!

We had some great opportunities to be with my family in those last weeks. We were all able to be together for a few days up in Door County where we had lots of down time and good memory-making moments. Again, those times with family are priceless, especially for our kids to be able to continue building strong bonds with their extended family.

We had a unique situation that brought about a blessing. We had to return our rented vehicle to ND. So instead of us trying to ferry it back, Syd’s Mom, sister, and niece and nephew flew out to drive it back. It was great to have their help, enjoy a bit more time with them, and meet our new little nephew. We enjoyed having both of our families together for a few days. We even got to celebrate Heidi’s bday all together!
